Internships and Experiences

History, political science, and international relations students at the University of Indianapolis have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of internship opportunities. Our students can take advantage of semester-long internship positions, arranged through The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars and the Institute for Experiential Learning, in corporate, nonprofit, and government agencies in Washington, DC. Other students have completed semester-long or summer internships in Indianapolis, arranged directly between the department and local government and nonprofit institutions.

Our students have obtained valuable experience by working for such organizations as:

Our students also take active leadership roles on campus, participating in student government and working on the school newspaper. You might consider joining our Model United Nations or Model European Union team, for example, and participate in intercollegiate simulations of international organizations. The department also sponsors campus chapters of Young Democrats and College Republicans, and we offer student membership in Phi Alpha Theta, the international history honor society.

Every two or three years, we offer an ambitious travel-work-study experience for our students, usually to destinations in Latin America or Africa. Finally, our students can spend a Spring Term or semester studying at either of our branch campuses: Intercollege on Cyprus, or University of Indianapolis Athens in Greece.
