History and Political Science

The goal of the Department of History and Political Science is to assist all students in developing historical consciousness and perspective, a mature judgement on current and timeless issues, and an overall cultural literacy. Our courses provide students with the opportunity to prepare for advanced study in history, political science, and law, and to develop insights and skills valuable to a wide variety of careers.

At the University of Indianapolis, we believe that education is the key to the future. In the History & Political Science department, our goal is to produce graduates who are culturally literate, with a broad base of knowledge about history, society, law, politics, and culture - past, present, and future. We believe that only through the scholarly and scientific study of the past and present can we create the knowledge necessary for a changing future.

The Forum
The Forum was established by the Department of History & Political Science to provide regular opportunities for members of the University and wider communities to meet and share programs and activities of historical and contemporary interest. The purpose of Forum activities is to help build up the intellectual community outside the classroom in a way that encourages dialogue and exchange around important issues.

The Forum sponsors regular events involving films, speakers, panel discussions, and workshops. Events are generally held in the evening in Good Hall, Room 221, on the University of Indianapolis campus.
